Public Bangkok Canal Boat Services

Several larger canals in Bangkok are used by different public canal boat services. Bangkok canals with boat services for commuting:

  • Saen Saep Canal
  • Phadung Krung Kasem Canal
  • Bang Lamphu Canal (only used by water taxi)
  • Phasi Charoen Canal (currently not operating)

Khlong Saen Saep Boat Service

Khlong Saen Saep Boat is one of Bangkok's public transport services that is operating along the Saen Saep canal. The route is served by 100 boats with 40-50 seats each, running from the west to the east through Bangkok and back. The route is over 18 kilometers long and connects many shopping spots and attractions such as Central World, Pratunam, Nana, and MBK.

Khlong Saen Saeb Boat

Previously, the journey on the same canal could be extended further to Minburi with the Saen Saep Canal Electric Boat. However, the electric boat heading further north stopped operating on 30 September 2025.

Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem Boat Service

Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem Boat service is the first electric passenger boat service in Bangkok, which is provided on the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal and connects the Hua Lamphong area with the Phra Nakhon district. The route of this public canal boat service spans from Thewet Pier to Hua Lamphong Railway Station Pier, with 11 stops along the distance of approximately 5 kilometers.

Electric Water Taxi on Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem - Bang Lamphu

In 2026, a new electric water taxi service was opened on the route Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem - Bang Lamphu in Bangkok. The electric taxi boat is a new option for traveling in the city, offering a convenient, clean, and environmentally friendly way to commute. The service is available at 14 piers on the two canals, where you can board electric taxis. To use the service, you need to install the MuvMi application.

Electric Water Taxi on Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem - Bang Lamphu

Khlong Phasi Charoen Boat Service

The Khlong Phasi Charoen Express Boat service was operating on the Phasi Charoen Canal in Bangkok. The route of this canal boat spanned from Phetkasem 49 Pier to Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen Pier, with 20 stops along the route. One of its piers, Bang Wa Pier, was directly connected to BTS Bang Wa Station. The service was operating during morning and evening peak hours, but it has been suspended since 1 January 2022. It's still unclear whether the city administration will reopen the route.
